I made the homemade antenna that i seen on utube (from a 2x4 and 14 gauge copper house wire) was wondering if anyone had any experience with it? I placed it on the roof one day and got 28 channels, but in the house its 18 or so, (i brought i back in the house cause i was worried it was not grounded) im thinking next i will place it in the attic, any thoughts or comments would help cause im new at this and was amazed that it even worked.

Anything will work as an antenna if it tuned right, rabbit ears or a hi-tech one if its tuned to the right frequency it will pick up a signal, now how good it works is another question.
The roof mounted factory made TV antennas are wide band and have been designed to give you maximum gain over the TV bands, if your homebrew TV is working then great job and welcome to the wonderful world of antenna design and engineering, I’ve dabbled with them for over 40 years and have found that some work some don’t, it all depends on how far away you are from the TV transmitters.
I live 160 miles away from one HD station but with my setup I have no problems (except at dusk signal fade time) receiving it, my setup is 2 very hi-gain directional antennas mounted on a 60 foot tower with a rotor, a mast mounted signal amp gets it to the house where it goes thru a multi output signal distribution amp, this works fine for me.
But if that homebrew wires on a board TV antenna is working and your happy then it works for you, but there maybe more channels out there that you may be missing out on, the normal setup is a good Channelmaster deep fringe antenna on a 30 foot mast mounted on the peak of the roof with a rotor, this should get 90% of all stations with in a 70 to 100 mile radius. (depending on the antenna)
