I guess it depends how soon? When you buy the new tv, be sure to check if it has the tuner built in. Otherwise you'll need a converter box. Also, most hd fta rcvs have ATSC tuner now too.

If you're buying a new LCD soon it will have an ATSC tuner built in. If you want to get OTA right away you can get one of the low-cost converter boxes on the market, but keep in mind that they downconvert HD signals to SD.
Then of course you will also need to consider your choices for an antenna. There are a variety of different antennas out there, and the one you use depends on how far you are from the transmitters, and the frequency band that the stations are transmitting on.

Samsung makes an ATSC tuner that will put out SD and HD, but it’s a bit more that the standard converter box.

I have one..... The Samsung DTB-H260F will do HD but it costs 3 to 4 times as much as a basic converter box. Maybe a bit much if you're buying a new TV.

just make sure then that your new tv will have the tuner and that it pushes 1080 instead of the 720.
woohoo!
