I have a house located approximately 45 miles from Montreal and 25 miles from the Us border. Have a terk hd antenna mounted on a 30' motorized mast.

I can receive 10 sd/hd american channels and not 1 single canadian one. At least 3 Montreal station are supposed to bebroadcasting sd/hd .

Some of the yankee channels are from cities located farther away than Montreal.

Would someone have an explanation for this?

thanks

Big one? lol Don't have the exact model number with me - it is designed for hd reception in rural areas, if memory serves me right it was supposed to work up to 60 miles.

If they are all on UHF then I highly recommend this one. http://www.solidsignal.tv/prod_display.asp?PROD=TD-91XG

Its got the best gain and beamwidth for your $$

Not sure if I'm ready to change it at this time. Can I add a preamp to increase the signal strenght?

Hiya Stan...
You should be able to pick up the majority of the stations listed here I would think...

The Montreal stations are broadcasting from the roof of the CBC building... Mt. Royal blocks the signal to many people.

I'm due sw of there so the mountain is not blocking the signal but it would add another 20-25 miles to the equation. Is there anything planned to install retransimitting tower to extend their range?

I can only assume that when the analog signal is shut down in 2011 they're going to use the old tower to broadcast their signal.

I think it could be an issue with that antenna. Terk doesn't make the best gear out there, and the Radio-Canada signals are probably weaker.
